PAWS For Life

Volunteer!

Sharing that volunteer spirit!

Volunteers are the backbone of any nonprofit organization. As an all-volunteer organization, PAWS for Life can be successful only if we find.volunteers who share our passion and commitment to animals.

We welcome anyone who would like to volunteer and is interested in making a difference. Please print a Volunteer Application and send it to the address on the application. Call 375-9883 for more information.

Volunteer Opportunities

Because we are an all-volunteer oragnization, volunteers can best participate by being on a committee. The following committees are organization now:

Education/Publicity

This committee will create educational materials to ensure that adopters have information that helps them become responsible pets owners. Additionally, the committee will take a major role in promoting the spay/neuter campaign and other events.

Fundraising Committee

Nobody ever wants to talk about money, but all nonprofit groups need it. If you have a new and exciting way for us to earn money, or even a tried and tested way to bring in the bucks, please join this important committee.

Volunteer Committee

Are you a people person? Members of the Volunteer Committee will recruit volunteers, and schedule and staff mobile adoptions and other events.

Adoption Committee

If you want to make sure that each animal PAWS for Life places gets a permanent home, this committee is looking for you. Members will evaluate adoption applications to determine, along with the foster parent, the best possible match between animal and adopter.

Be Glad to Help!

Do you have a talent for grooming, dog training, sewing, carpentry, photography, web site management, creating crafts or anything else that might be useful to an animal-oriented organization? Let us know, and we’d be glad to put you to work! Call 375-9883 for more information.

Foster Program

PAWS for Life is devoted to keeping dogs and cats out of already overcrowded shelters if at all possible. Every adoptable animal surrendered to PAWS will live in a foster home until a permanent home is found. So you see, PAWS really has a great need for foster parents.
  • What is a foster parent?
A foster parent provides a temporary home for animals available for adoption. Foster parents treat their foster animals as they do their own animals. Being a foster parnet is like being a grand parent--all the enjoyment of playing with animals without the lifetime responsibility.
  • How long will I foster?
Fostering may last a week to a month or more. A foster animal's stay depends on how long it takes to find a permanent home.
  • How do I find a permanent home for my foster animal?
PAWS for Life uses mobile adoptions, newspaper ads, posters, and listings on local and national web sites to help animals find permanent homes.
  • Can I foster and work full time?
Certainly. Many foster parents work full time. Working foster parents need only provide their foster animals with a safe and secure environment during working hours.
  • Are there any expenses for a foster parent?
PAWS for Life will try to furnish all supplies so that all you need to provide is TLC. However, as a new group, PAWS would appreciate any supplies you could donate.
  • What if my foster animal needs medical attention?
Call a PAWS board member immediately. The board member will make an appointment with a veterinarian.
  • How do I become a foster parent?
If you are interested in becoming a foster parent, print the Foster Parent Application and send it to the address on the address listed on the application. You will be contacted by a board member. For more information, call 375-9883.
